ESC JPW Mission Statement
The ESC Job Preparation Workshop Program reaches a large number of individuals through interactive workshops that demonstrate the skills necessary for interviewing, job searching, and behaving in a professional manner.
JPW Presenters
ESC's Job Preparation Workshops teach disadvantaged teens and young adults not only strategies for a successful job search but, meeting employer expectations and utilizing the employment resources available to them. Throughout the workshops, each participant prepared a resume and job application, and is guided through a formal interview process, giving them real life experiences and helpful feedback for future interviews. In addition, the workshops are designed to adapt to the needs of each potential job seeker. The discussions usually last 45 minutes and involve activities that encourage individual participation. Outlines and materials are provided.
JPW Practice Interviewers
ESC many time conducts practice interviews for individuals separate from the JPW workshop. The participants prepare resumes and job applications ahead of time. A group of ESC volunteers then conduct formal practice interviews to expose the participants to a real-life example of a job interview and provide feedback on their interviewing skill level, as well as, suggestions for improvement. This enables the individual to enhance the critical "first impression."
